Carers’ week was a great opportunity to ‘put carers on the map.’ As a team we thought what better way to show this than a roadshow. The Roadshow was a great opportunity for carers’ from different areas to come along and benefit from receiving advice and information as well as some relaxation.
At both events the Carer’s worker opened the event talking about Hive and sharing her lived experience Elish from Deeds spoke beautifully about the wonderful work that deeds do and the MDT discussed their new carers group for Limavady . This lead on to our wonderful Carer’s KH and NT talking about her journey as a carer. This lead to open discussions around the table with careers discussing challenges and barriers they faced being a carer.
At both roadshow’s we had information stalls from
* Compassionate Communities
* Family Support
* Macmilliam
* Deeds
* Ask
* MDT
* Age Concern
* Causeway Coast Advice
Carers’ had the opportunity to speak to other organisations to gain valuable advice and relevant information from stalls. The day was then topped off with some Relaxation with activities such as medication, ecosymatics, armchair aerobics and singticity . A lunch was then provided and some round the table conversations. Carer’s who attended have said
‘what a great day I have never felt so relaxed.’
‘ It is so great to chat to different stalls, I have received some much needed information, great day all round.’
The carer’s event was a great networking event.
